Submitting to Orang Utan Comics
Writers
Orang Utan Comics Studio is currently recruiting writers by invitation only. I am sure that is not what you wanted to hear, but please keep checking the site as the situation may change in the future. The reason we are not accepting writing submissions is that the Orang Utan Comics Studio philosophy is any project we start will end up as a pencilled, inked, coloured, lettered and professionally finished product. We have seen other similar ventures fail by having an abundance of writing talent far outweighing the number of artists they had available. This meant a lot of people were working on projects and putting in a lot of hours on projects that would never see the light of day. Instead of this we will be working on a limited number of projects to ensure we create and complete the best comics possible.
Artists
Orang Utan Comics is currently looking for pencillers, inkers and colourists for our various projects, and our Studio.
Pencillers
If you are interested in becoming part of the Orang Utan Comics Studio team, please send an email with attached sequential artwork to info@orangutancomics.co.uk.
Alternatively, you can send us a link to your online portfolio for consideration.
Please do bare in mind however that any link sent to us must contain at least five pages* of sequential art, and any email must contain no more than that.
Please do not send us pin-ups. These do NOT tell us if you can draw a comic.
Inkers
Whilst there is an increasing shift in the industry towards colouring over un-inked pencils, we at Orang Utan Comics Studio believe that inking is an essential part of the creative process of making a comic, and as such we encourage inkers to submit to us.
If you are interested in becoming part of the Orang Utan Comics Studio team, please send an email with attached inks and the original pencils to info@orangutancomics.co.uk.
Alternatively, you can send us a link to your online portfolio for consideration.
Please do bear in mind however that any link sent to us must contain at least five inked pages*, which a clear comparison to the original pencils, and any email must contain no more than that.
Colourists
If you are interested in becoming part of the Orang Utan Comics Studio team, please send an email with attached colouring samples to info@orangutancomics.co.uk.
Alternatively, you can send us a link to your online portfolio for consideration.
Please do bare in mind however that any link sent to us must contain at least five pages*, and any email must contain no more than that.
*Then shalt thou send us five samples, no more, no less. Five shall be the number thou shalt send, and the number of the sending shall be five. Six shalt thou not send, neither send thou four, excepting that thou then proceed to five. Seven is right out. Once the number five, being the fifth number, be reached, then sendest thou thy Holy Art Submissions of
Antioch
towards our inbox, which, being awesome in thy sight, shall accept it.

PLEASE NOTE
Orang Utan Comics is all about working together as a team to get greater exposure and to get our best work into print and as such we DO NOT pay page rates. In fact, the vast majority of small to medium sized publishers do not pay page rates either. Like them all of our artists and writers recieve a percentage share of any profits for the comics they contribute to.
We are mainly making these comics out of a love for the medium, and to get our work noticed by bigger publishers who do pay page rates, not to make vast sums of money.
Do not give up the day job just yet, but please do still apply if you would like to be part of a friendly, talented team with a bright future.
However, work conducted on behalf of 3rd parties through Orang Utan Comics Studio will be undertaken with an agreed fee or exposure, so please do send us your work.
